More proof that we are in an extremely valuable niche market....
Got my monthly ValPak envelope in the mail today and guess how many duplicate businesses I saw in there?? LOTS.
-2 basement waterproofing businesses
-2 auto repair businesses
-2 window replacement services
-3 tree care specialists...yes...THREE!
Valpak is garbage!
The only other thing even remotely close is Clipper Magazine....which my advertisers said gets a HORRIBLE return! Its mostly printed in single color and jams like 30 ads per page....horrible.
We are in a good position my friends :)

We have to remember that, Gregg - and be confident. Some members of the forum(s) seem really really worried about competitors - and yes, they're out there. I've struggled with "positioning" & "pricing" in my mind, too, when compared to other ad options locally. We DO have to explain how this is different and better.
But if you're scared of competition you shouldn't be in business.
And if you don't believe this concept has compelling advantages you should be doing something else.

I agree.
I've also been saving ads and ad magazines that I know have been in business for years while delivering a poor product.
Remember ValPak uses contracts for that crap. Advertisers are desperate for a solution.
And this just reinforces in my mind not only the years of future income ahead but,,,,
THAT THEY ARE THE ONES IN TROUBLE,,,
BECAUSE ,,, HERE I COME !

All the advertising I have used here locally doesn't work. I used to publish a coupon book (10 yrs ago) which we hand delivered to 800+ locations. have advertised in a couple here lately. Did nothing. Briefly considered restarting one a year ago, but thought it would not work. this should work! We have a lot of print media here, but most stink. people don't pick most of them up anymore.

Hi all! New here...but wanted to chime in. My thoughts are to the one's who advertise in one of thee most expensive mediums it is...R-A-D-I-O! I did an ad spot many years ago (around 1999) and it was $5,000 (I was in Pre Paid Legal) with no guarantee that it would be heard (or acted on) by the *number* of people they said would be tuned in....and that wasn't even during *prime* time! So, now I want a shot at those deep pocketed advertisers and plan to keep my ear pinned to the radio stations to offer them MY D-T-C (direct to consumer) solution!
Me worry about competition? [insert deep hearty Vincent Price laugh] Don't make me laugh...(lol)!

Think about it this way...IF there is competition, doesn't that imply there is a viable market for our service? The answer of course is you bet!
You need to worry if you are starting a business in an industry with NO competition...good luck with that.
By the way, a friend of mine who owns an Italian restaurant just did rsvp for $800- sent to 40,000 upper income homes. He mentioned that so far he has gotten a good response. They are interested in advertising with us as well. Many businesses will want to add your mailer to their ongoing marketing efforts.
Finally, for every business already using the competition- there are several others waiting for our form of marketing. They just don't know it yet- until you SHARE it with them!
