I've been selling for a long time and have even been told that I can sell ice cubes to eskimos. The funny thin is that I have never believed to be the "Pushy" sales type. I go with the flow and Let go and let God take over -
I wanted to point out something that can literally change your sales quota overnight and here it is:
Business people don't care how much you know, until they know how much you care.
I started this program just one day ago and already have 4 clients for my jumbo postcard program. Yes, I have to be honest and say that these business people were already my website clients but it applies to prospects as well.
Show them you care by "educating" them first, then showing explaining to them that they'ed by absolutely crazy not to do business with you. Gain their trust.
It works every time - I guarantee it.
Now go out and make some friends first - sell 2nd. It's a lot more fun :-)

Good stuff, Jcalome! Helping them without "selling" them is the key.
One approach is to walk in and notice their menu or sign and say "Excuse me, I just noticed your attractive menu. It is very easy to read and I love the pictures too. By the way, where do most of your customers come from?" -- and then shut up and listen!
Then say "The reason I ask - is I like to keep track of this, because it helps me do a better job getting a lot more customers coming in the door --for my business clients." Then shut up again. If they don't ask "well how do you get more customers?" then just say "thank you for your time" - smile and leave.
If they ask and want to know more, again, don't jump into "selling mode" - go into showing "how' this works - targeted marketing, with a great irresistible offer. Briefly touch on the ROI aspect and say something like "you know, once you begin marketing like this, it becomes contagious- because it works so well. By the way, I'm offering a special deal for restaurants just this week .......
Cheers!

Great ice breaker, I'll have to try that when I'm out and about (not focusing on selling)
