Hello All,
I have a quick question. Does anyone know if the VBA Spreadshhet that comes with "Rocketeer" works in Open Office, or if there is a version that works in Open Office?
Thanks a million
Seb

Hey Seb, unfortunately I don't think it will work since openoffice likely doesn't use VBA coding. I wish there was a more universal solution but I believe the only way to make it work for everyone who doesn't have excel is to build it as an application or to build it in a website or something.

Ok, Thanks Jake. I have contacted guy on Fiverr who says he can convert it. We'll see what happens.

Yeah Seb if he does that and it works, and you want to share it with others, I'll gladly cover the cost and some.

Hello Jake,
I am supposed to get the Spreadsheet today. Before I I ok it and pay for it, I would sure like to make sure it works.
I am unfamiliar with how it is supposed to work so I would be a poor judge of function.
Would you be able to check it out for me or could you suggest someone who could?
And then yes, I'm happy to make it available to you.
Thanks
Seb

Could someone explain what the VBA spreadsheet is because I am totally lost? And how it works (stuck on stupid...), maybe too much turkey?

VBA (Visual Basic) is the programming code microsoft excel uses. It allows you to automate tasks and whatnot.
In this case, in the spreadsheet you paste in all the leads you pull in and it has two columns, one for industries you want to keep, and one for business names you want to leave out (chain stores and such).
When you click 'sort' the vba code:
1. filters out all the industries that are not in the industry list
2. filters out all the names of businesses that are in the column of chain stores
3. display the results in a separate worksheet
4. sort them all by industry
5. add spaces between each industry for ease of reading

So am I supposed to ask you for my VBA sheet since it was not included in the Rocketeer Guide? If so, please send it to me,
Eva

Jake does this spreadsheet function in Microsoft Excel Viewer ?
Your instructions don't jive with what I'm looking at
1. , if it asks, enable editing and enable content (macros).
I don't see any options to accomplish #1.
Which leads me to think I'm using the wrong software.

Are you using excel? You'll have to enable macros if you are. Macros can carry viruses (this is not a virus, I promise) so it asks you to approve it.

Ahh, just read that you were using excel viewer. I don't think so because you probably can't edit it. If seb's fiverr guy can get the code done in openoffice then use that. If he can't, I'll probably hunt down a coder that can do it.

I am using the latest version of Excel and failed to open it... What were you using when you created this Bob? Feeling frustrated, should it be this complicated? Onward and forward...

No it's very easy. I used the latest version but it should be compatible with 97-2003 as well. If it asks you to enable macros make sure you click yes.

A big red X with a note saying it is unable to open the file is all I get...

I'm using MS Office 2010 and I'm able to open the script and make it work properly.
There maybe an antivirus program that is stopping you also.

Well, sorry to disappoint, but apparently according to several different Fiverr guys, this can't be converted to Open Office Calc.
I tried

I have no problem opening it in OpenOffice Calc. I can't use it 'cause it's asking for Java JRE (which is loaded) and it can't see it. (I don't have the time to see if I can somehow make it "see" that it's there.) I see Bob's template clear as day.
Since you have the real deal (the latest Microsoft Excel) and can't open it, then I would suggest removing all the porn on your puter.
LOL

An insult like that can only come (and be accepted), coming from your own filthy mouth, lol. Any other better suggestions since I do not do porn?
