Hi,
I'm trying to put together a website for advertising buyers and wanted to know what shopping cart everyone uses so buyers can pay for services? PayPal? 2 Checkout?

I use my own custom built system that hooks up to my NMI merchant account or Paypal. The merchant account makes it nice to process recurring payments on subsequent ads because then I can just charge their card on my own.

But otherwise sending a Paypal invoice manually would be the next best thing. I don't think I'd want to use 2Checkout.

PayPal can do recurring payments too.

PayPal can do recurring payments too.

Great point, but I was just making the distinction that with this type of business the time that you want to charge the card might not be exact, and the commitment level might vary, and there's also the possibility of picking up ad-hoc printing side jobs, which is handy to be able to just ding the card on your own schedule without manual intervention on the part of the advertiser. I've had several that want to just pay over the phone as well, which is also handy with the merchant account. But paypal is a good option too since it can be done online, and I suppose you could send the customer a link to create a subscription, maybe for one year let's say, and then as long as nothing changes in your pricing or agreement with the customer, then you're good.

For just about everything we do manual invoicing through PayPal works just fine. I've never had a problem with anyone not wanting to be invoiced through PayPal.

Paypal invoicing has worked well for me. Have even taken a payment over the phone with the Paypal Here app.

Paypal Here...basically like Square only for Paypal. Thanks Jeff!

Hi I know this message is a year old - but were you asking about a shopping cart or a way to accept credit cards? I do a lot of ecommerce sites - a favorite is a WordPress site with WooCommerce as the shopping cart.
