Noobie Question about business cards

Hello Everyone,

I wondered how most of you get business card print deals. When I look at the cost to print them on sites like VistaPrint and then I review Jake's prices, they seem so close :confused:. I plan to use Jake no matter what, I just don't see how I can squeeze much more than $10.00 out of a business card order, no matter how cool they are.

I must be missing something key here. I'd love to muscle in on the print world by scooping up the business card printing jobs.....perhaps the margins are just too tight on these and I need to, instead, expect to begin with Flyers/Brochures...etc.

Make sure you're comparing apples to apples. Vistaprint is actually very high priced on similar products because they start with a very low price and you must add features to match quality.

For instance, I just had 1000 16pt 4/4 UV business cards shipped from Jake for $29. Vistaprint's Premium Business Card is $35, and with "Brilliant Finish" w/ "Premium Paper", the price goes up to $70. Their Premium Paper is 15.5 pt vs. 16pt. If you want "Premium Glossy", it's another $11.24. Color on the back is another $13.

They are HIGH priced when comparing apples to apples.

Also, keep in mind the majority of local businesses don't even know about Vistaprint. You're competing against the local printers, which is no problem. If they do bring up Vistaprint, show how you can upgrade them at a lower/same price!

Thanks for responding.

That sure does make a difference. I think I am having trouble navigating VistaPrint's site and correlating their print jargon to Jake's. I am so new to this.

I have to keep in mind all of the great stuff Jake provides for us would be considered a premium or an extra elsewhere.

Also, I need to study the extras on Jake's so I can accurately build in my profit margin.
