View Full Version : Prepare post office paper work for EDDM mailings
Figuring out what the USPS expected as far as EDDM prep goes has been less than an exact science. Now they put up an instruction sheet as soon as you pay online. If they had done this last year, my job of training USPS clerks would have been much simpler :)

I thought we printed and put a slip on each bundle.
A different slip for each bundle in EACH Route
That's what made me wonder about shrink wrap vers rubber bands

A route slip on top of each bundle yes.
I get mine with paper bands but they break easily
Is shrink wrap all bundles up tight like a gift or something different?
I don't know

Yes, shrink wrap to me means they are wrapped up like with "Saran Wrap" - I haven't seen a print bundle wrapped but I have other thinks. Good way to keep things together on a pallet to.

Hey Jake,
The shrink wrap is nice and tidy but I have switched camps to rubber banded bundles. This way all I have to do is slide the USPS facing slip under the band. This is faster than having to rubber band myself over the shrink wrapped 100 piece bundle and the plain rubber banded are also faster for splitting bundles for routes vs splitting the shrink wrap.
I guess its just personal preference but if you send 20K+ monthly that extra time starts to add up.
I agree with Papadon on the paper bands. Lets all send emails and/or calls to that vendor and ask them to start using rubber bands instead. Maybe they will get the clue if enough of us start mentioning it. Bundling is a huge time saver and those rubber bands add to those time savings.
I think I've got it down to a science and can get a 10k mailing unboxed, carrier route split, and put facing slips on each bundle in under an hour. I am putting together a quick video with more tips and tricks with shipping, bundling, what USPS cartons, carriers, trays, and rolling dollys to use, facing slips quick copies, what to write on facing slips to get the best chance of proper delivery from USPS carriers and other tidbits that I have learned after doing these 9x12s for a year and a half. I should call it "I Filled My Card - Now What Do I Do"
Its all in the Details,

Hey Ashton,
HHHMMMMMMM Popcorn!!! Sounds good don't forget the Duff Beer. LOL
Well I just placed my latest 9x12 order about a half hour ago so my plan is to step by step walk through from start to finish with everything that I do to make things go as smoothly as possible. I will do this next week when the order comes in and should have the video out the following week. I think it will be released and most major theaters nationwide so keep watching for its release. Hopefully we can crush the box office and that Brad Pitt guy. HA HA

Hi Zen,
Do you have a release date yet for your walk-through video of a 9x12 EDDM preparation?
Thanks,
~ Ashton
