Hey everyone,
So I sent out my first 9 x 12 last month that was based around home care. I contacted all of the businesses who advertised with me on it and none of them after two weeks had said they got a single response. I am in total shock as I sent it out to 10,000 middle-upper class homes in a great part of town. Some of them said they were expecting this and that they were thinking it would take a couple of months to see whether or not this card was successful. Does anyone have any suggestions of email drafts that they would be willing to send as examples of what to say? I feel really bad for them and even though I did not guarantee any ROI, I feel responsible for it. Also I am half way through my second card and when I am asked about the response rate from this past card I have to skirt around the issue. But on the other hand my next card is based on personal care and I think people are much more inclined to jump on the discount of a massage session then calling a plumber or AC guy.

Last but not least what are some of the best times of year to send out flyers? I was thinking waiting at least a week or two after any holiday as the floods of other coupons are sent out heavily around that time. What does everyone think? For my next card I was thinking waiting until Mid September instead of the beginning of the month so all of the back to school promos have died down.

Are you basing the entire card on just one business category? Any particular reasoning for this,
as compared to having multiple types of businesses on the card?

Hi thank you for your response. Yes I just had a lot of companies tell me that they like to be grouped with "alike' businesses.

The card actually turned out really nice. There was only 8 companies on it though. Each company had a 1/4 page spot. I am just curious as to what to say to my customers as why they haven't gotten a real response from it yet. I was wondering if anyone else had experience this or if I need to be more patient and wait awhile longer.

Again... how can anyone give you an answer unless we see your card? We'd all be guessing. Since I haven't seen your postcard my guess is that your ads SUCKED. Did that help you? LOL (Of course it didn't.)

Did your postcards hit the area on Friday and your clients are whining because they haven't received any calls this morning? If you want half-way decent answers to your questions then be specific.

A "variety of ads" ,,,, provides something for everybody.

Psychologically it is like fishing with 16 different fish hooks.

Your entire card was based on "home care"?

hmmm out of 10,000 what percentage would be seniors,, 25%,, 33% ?

That would be 7500 to 6000 people with no interests in, oxygen tanks, electric scooters, or power lift toilet seats.

I hope you're charging these companies a good price for your benefit.

There are a few things to consider here.
Mr. Subtle wants to see the card to look at the ads. We want to know how your ads are made and what offers you have. Seeing that we will be more equiped to give you some reasons why it didn't work out (if it didn't)

another thing to consider is time. Did you put a 'valid until...' on your coupons? If so, is the date passed? If not, someone on the forum (I don't remember who but it might have been Ssslocalleads AKA Steve.) had the same problem and then BAM! just before the 1 month mark, lots of coupons got redeemed. All his advertisers were overjoyed.

So, wait before you send that email. wait until at least a month has passed.

Show us the ads and we can discuss the offers on them.

Like stated without seeing card its hard to give direction. But if it was one nich then that could be the problem. Like Mr Nat said "variety of ads" thats the way to go. If I got a card filled with things I dont use its not going to get used But if I got a card with a mix of business chances are better that I would use it.

Please post a card pic and maybe we can give a better answer....

Create an account on a photosharing site like imgur or instagram, and then link us to it... If that is too hard, you could even make a facebook group and upload the picture there :)
